Dave Carpenter wrote an article distributed by the Associated Press about “Steering clear of investment fraud.” He’s got a great explanation of a Ponzi scheme, the scheme that Madoff was running where he bilked investors out of an estimated $50 billion.
Mr. Carpenter explains the most reliable credentials for investment advisers, CFP (Certified Financial Planner), and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). Still, Madoff was a legend on Wall Street; a number of high profile charities and corporations were invested with his company.
